Special Events
Seminars, Retreats and Conferences
Seminars, Retreats and Conferences are meant to provide a concentrated time, away from the busyness and distractions of life, where a person can come to new realizations and experience breakthroughs that may take longer to reach in other therapeutic contexts. These events can cultivate the kind of changes that sometimes require extended periods of reflection and deliberation. A therapist, or a team of therapists, will lead a group through times of teachings and small group interaction that can lead to lasting changes in one's daily life.

The Way To Healing
Facilitator: Caleb Grover, M.A., M.Div.

Are you at a place in your life where you hoped to be further along but you are not sure how to get there? Sometimes with God or people in our lives, we desire closeness but seem stuck in patterns that leave us feeling isolated or wanting. We feel guilt but want freedom; anger but want peace and joy. If you feel like you must be doing something wrong but nothing you’ve tried seems to give you the answers, you are not alone. Instead of settling for the way life is, we invite you to join us for a weekend of healing and growth. We will explore the concepts of forgiveness, guilt, shame, anger, need, community, and intimacy with God, with the hope of giving you tools to take your relationships with God and others deeper.
Conference Format: The conference will include three days of large group teaching and small group processing. Each small group will be led by a professional Christian counselor.
Speaker: Caleb Grover, M.A., M.Div. is a therapist on staff with Grace Clinic. Trained as a pastor and counselor, his biblical teaching impacts both the head and heart.
Registration Fees: Fee includes notebook, large group teaching, counselor-led small groups, and lunch on Friday and Saturday.
Hotel Information: The Episcopal Church of the Ascension is located within a few miles of some of Orlando's biggest attractions, including Universal Studios, Sea World, International Drive, and the Orange County Convention Center. There are dozens of hotels and motels that serve the area; and you may wish to consult a travel agent or website for the best deals. Though we do not endorse any particular facility, these three sites are close to the conference location and received above-average customer satisfaction ratings on several of the websites we consulted.

When it comes to the topic of homosexuality, Christians often feel caught between two unpleasant options. On the one hand, it seems like being faithful to the Bible leads them to sound like extremists, or worse, bigots. On the other hand, not saying anything seems like a tacit endorsement of the homosexual lifestyle. While there is no inherent sin in disagreeing with others or humbly bowing out of a conversation, we have an opportunity to offer so much more in these conversations and relationships. We have an opportunity to offer life-giving hope and perspective, we just need to know how to think and talk about it. In this three-part talk, lead by therapists Mike and Kelly Winkler, we will explore both the Biblical and psychological aspects of homosexuality, and offer a perspective where fidelity to the Bible and love for our neighbors can co-exist in harmony.
