STRESS
Ongoing stress reflects our inability to make life work on our own terms.
Stress is a part of life, and can be experienced in many areas, including finances, relationships, and the workplace. In healthy doses, stress can be a motivating factor to enact change in one’s life. However, ongoing stress can have a negative impact on one’s emotional, physical, and social well-being, which in turn inhibits our capacity to achieve the success we seek, beginning a downward cycle of effort, frustration, disappointment, and then, renewed efforts.
Ultimately, stress is the result of living in a world gone wrong - in a fallen world. Anxiety and stress are often the results of our ineffective attempts to take control of the chaos of our world and to remake it after our own liking. While sometimes these attempts are the expression of our highest ideals, based on good principle, ongoing stress suggests that there is something more happening than noble intentions running up against a stubbornly resistant world. Irritability, depression, sleeplessness, anxiety, and erratic eating patterns are just some of the psychological and physical symptoms that ongoing stress can cause. Grace Clinic would love the opportunity to offer you tools to unravel the causes of stress and healthy ways to cope with life’s frustrations.
Quote:
"I’m troubled by how unquestioningly we live out our determination to make this life work. All our hopes for happiness are bound up in it.
It’s as if we believe this is the only world we ever plan to inhabit."
